Abstract
AbstractThe Shanghai Skyline shows some remarkable tower structures, all of them within the top list of tall structures worldwide. The Jin Mao Tower (left) is an 88‐story landmark sky scraper, containing offices and a hotel. It was the tallest building in China and the fifth tallest in the world by roof height until it was surpassed in September 2007 by the neigh bouring Shanghai World Financial Center (middle, see pp. 236–247). The Shanghai Tower (right), a 128‐story building located next to these two buildings and now under construction, will be even taller. (Photo: Geert De Schutter)
