Abstract
Molecular recognition through conformational preorganization is discussed in the Full Paper on page 7987 ff. by O. Q. Munro et al. The global minimum conformation of a bis(pyrrole) Schiff base derivative exhibits C2 symmetry and a highly nonplanar conformation that is preorganized for self‐assembly into a tight hydrogen‐bonded dimer with exact D2 symmetry. The solution‐phase structure of the dimer, which predominates at higher concentrations (narrow pyrrole NH resonance), matches the X‐ray structure. The monomers within the dimer are electronically mixed.
