Abstract
Cyclic carbocations are important intermediates in methanol-to-olefins (MTO) reaction over zeolite. In their Research Article on page 26847, Jun Xu and co-workers report that the carbocations formed in the MTO reaction can capture small hydrocarbon molecules via non-covalent interactions. Multiple non-covalent interactions have been identified by solid-state NMR spectroscopy and confirmed to be the key factors in modulating reaction properties.
