Abstract
Fruit ripening of the common fig (Ficus carica) shows both climacteric and nonclimacteric, concomitant with internal syconium coloration to external receptacle coloration. In this issue, Qiao et al. confirm that ethylene regulates fig fruit ripening through ABA signaling. The cover image shows the processes of fig fruit development and ripening as well as the self‐control, split‐fruit establishment.
