Abstract
The cover image created by Vineet Kumar and his colleagues depicts the introduction of a new 1,3-diethereal linkage of propanetriol (RO-CH2-CHOH-CH2-OR) between the 1,2 galactomannan chains. It was observed that the introduction of dietheral linkage in crosslinked galactomannans improved its rheological properties as well as stability towards the attack of acid, salt, and alkali, thereby making it more valuable for food and non-food applications. The background image shows the growth of fungus colonies as the newly synthesized biopolymer is harmless to the fungus. DOI: 10.1002/app.51669
