Abstract

The excited coinage metal catch, or how to form luminescent hetero-bimetallic lanthanide coinage metal compounds. The cover picture depicts how the ligand system dpfam, represented by an octopus, can form preformed lanthanide scaffolds that can catch silver or gold cations. Upon excitation of the system, the octopus can force the two different metal centres to interact. The new deep-sea dwellers obtained illuminate the dark ocean and reveal a new class of interesting hetero-bimetallic compounds. More information can be found in the Full Paper by P. W. Roesky et al.
