Abstract

A recent federal district court decision 1 Citizens for Health v. Thompson, No. 03-2267 (E.D. Pa. April 2, 2004). Google Scholar upheld the final version of the HIPAA privacy regulations, which allow health care entities covered by the rules to disclose patients’ protected health information for routine purposes without first obtaining the patients’ consent. Mr. Sfikas is ADA chief counsel and an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
