Abstract

Bond graphs are used in order to understand the mechanism of interaction of three important and inter-related processes of reticulocyte metabolism: potassium efflux through the cell membrane, ATP metabolism and protein synthesis. Experimental data relative to membrane mediated inhibition of this synthesis by potassium carriers, dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 and valinomycin, are then fitted to dynamical equations suggested from the bond graphs.
