Abstract

Grating coupling strength effects in self-pulsating distributed feedback lasers were investigated. Choosing the coupling coefficient appropriately, improvements in the timing jitter as well as the injection locking sensitivity were observed experimentally. The results are attributed to a co-ordination of optical feedback strengths between dual lasing modes.
