Abstract
We consider physical consequences, resulting from Coulomb’s and Ohm’s laws for the case of an anisotropic medium. First, we derive and analyze the expression for Coulomb’s force in the case of uniaxial crystals. We find that this force is a non-central force. At certain conditions its absolute value depends non-monotonically on the direction in the crystal. We also obtain the relation for the transverse electric field (Sasaki field) in that case. It also demonstrates a non-monotonic dependence on the direction in the crystal. The issues outlined in this article will be useful for undergraduate students studying the advanced topics of electricity.
