Abstract

Abstract The corrosion resistance of three stainless grades (Type 316L, Type 317L, and 0.02C-20Cr-25Ni-4.5Mo-1.5Cu) in wet process phosphoric acid of varying corrosivity has been studied. Electrochemical measurements were used to investigate the effect of various contaminants on the corrosivity of wet process acids and the results have been correlated to weight loss measurements.
