Abstract
Neutron scattering in Indonesia is part of wider development program aimed at utilizing research reactors for peaceful uses. This activity has started in the early 1960s using a TRIGA Mark II research reactor in Bandung, 150km southeast of Jakarta, the capital city. In August 1992, as part of development and improvement of its programs, the National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN), as the authority for implementing national nuclear program in Indonesia, commissioned some neutron instruments at the multi-purpose reactor (RSG) G.A. Siwabessy, the largest research reactor in Indonesia, located in Serpong, 30km southwest of Jakarta. This instrument park is composed of a four-circle diffractometer/texture diffractometer, a triple axis spectrometer, a neutron radiography facility, a small angle neutron scattering (SANS) spectrometer, a high resolution SANS spectrometer, and a high resolution powder diffractometer.
