Abstract

Objective To investigate the role of hrgA and cagA genes of H.Pylori causing diseases and the value of detection in gastric carcinoma and atrophic gastritis. Methods Gastric biopsy specimens from 26 patients with gastric carcinoma and 14 with pepticulcer were obtained, and were performed histopathological examination, rapid urease test and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Results Among the detected 26 gastric carcinoma cases,24 cases were gastric adenocarcinoma and 2 cases were gastric MALT lymphoma.Hp was present in 12 of 24 cases with gastric adenocarcinoma and in 12 of 14 cases with peptic ulcer by rapid urease test.Of the 24 cases with gastric adenocarcinoma,18 were hrgA positive and 20 were cagA positive;of the 14 cases with pepticulcer,6 were hrgA positive and 12 was cagA positive by PCR.Conclusions Hp could cause gastric carcinoma, and PCR was more reliable than the urease methods. To detect hrgA and cagA of Hp was very important for realizing the role of causing disease, assessing the damage, previewing the disease and choosing clinical treatment.
