Abstract

Objective To investigate the prevalence of dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus in adult residents of Jiangxi Province, and to explore the correlation between dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus. Methods A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was adopted to conduct cross-sectional survey of 5 040 residents over 18 years old in 14 urban and rural community committees in Jiangxi Province from March to July 2018, including questionnaire, physical examination, oral glucose tolerance test and biochemical indicators etc. SAS software was used for statistical analysis and Chi-square test was used for comparing the differences and tendency test. Logistic regression model was used for multiple-factor analysis. Results The standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia in adults and diabetes mellitus was 28.79% and 11.68% respectively in Jiangxi Province. The prevalence of dyslipidemia in adult females increased with age (P 0.05). Conclusion Dyslipidemia is closely related to diabetes.People with obesity, overweight or mixed dyslipidemia are at higher risk of diabetes. Prevention and control work should be differentiated according to crowed characteristics. Key words: Diabetes mellitus; Dyslipidemias; Community residents; Correlation
