Abstract

Fluctuating wall pressures have been measured simultaneously in the incoming undisturbed turbulent boundary layer and under the unsteady separation shock in a Mach 5 compression ramp interaction. Conditional sampling algorithms, a variable-window ensemble averaging technique, and the variable interval time averaging technique have been used to investigate the possibility of a correlation between pressure fluctuations in the incoming flow and the separation shock wave motion.
