Abstract

Li, P. and Zheng, X.-Y., 1992. Correlation of binary loci and prediction of vapor-liquid equilibria by a hard-sphere three-parameter equation. Fluid Phase Equilibria, 77:157-179. The hard-sphere three-parameter equation of state proposed in our previous paper was applied to correlate binary critical loci of alkane + hydrocarbon, aromatic + hydrocarbon, inorganic gas + hydrocarbon mixtures and systems of oxygenated hydrocarbons including those exhibiting class 2 type III behavior as classified by van Konynenberg and Scott. Results were compared with those obtained by the Patel-Teja equation with temperature-dependent binary interaction parameters. Significant improvements were achieved using the proposed equation with temperature-dependent parameters. In addition, binary interaction parameters obtained from the critical locus correlation were used to predict vapor-liquid equilibria of hydrogen + carbon monoxide and hydrogen + carbon dioxide systems. The accuracy of prediction was found to be very satisfactory.
