Abstract

Carbon Fiber/CVD Carbon composites were prepared by propane, benzene or acetylene as material gases, and hydrogen or helium as carrier gases. During deposition of carbon, gas chromatography analysis was carried out at the outlet of the reaction furnace. The effect of gas species on the microstructure of deposited carbons was investigated. It was considered that benzene was important species for the deposition of anisotropic carbon, and acetylene was important for isotropic carbon deposition.
