Abstract

Single-photon and single-electron decay of double vacancy states in atoms are investigated. Many-body perturbation theory is used to calculate the transition probabilities. Three different cases of many-electron transitions are considered: I, initial holes belong to inner shells and final vacancies to outer ones, i.e. in i1, in i2( in f1, in f2 ( in f3); II, one of final holes belongs to a deeper shell, with respect to the initial vacancies, here in f1 or in f2( in i1, in i2, III, the initial holes belong to intermediate shells, while one of the final vacancies is in an inner one and the other in an outer one, in f1<or= in i1, in i2<or= in f2. The calculations are performed for Ne, Ar and Kr.
