Abstract
Several studies have demonstrated the influence of oral diseases on the pathogenesis of several systemic diseases, especially in debtor patients, as they are more likely to the development of complications and disease dissemination. The aim of the study was to assess the correlation between poor oral hygiene and systemic complications in patients admitted to the ICU. An integrative literature review from 2010 to 2020 was carried out in Medline, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Scientific and Technical Literature of Latin America and the Caribbean, Virtual Health Library, using the search terms “dental biofilm”.
