Abstract
ABSTRACT This article offers an update to research presented in a long essay, entitled ‘The Making of Tupaia’s Map’, first published in early 2019 in the Journal of Pacific History. Its starting point is a voyaging path from Rarotonga to Pukapuka in the northern Cook Islands depicted on Tupaia’s charts which we had missed in our earlier research. While making a number of adjustments and corrections that come with this discovery, this article also offers an updated, concise, and accessible summary of our most basic findings about Tupaia’s Map.
