Abstract
We present correction factors necessary for optimal phase-shift keying generation using electroabsorption modulators (EAMs) with a relatively low extinction ratio. The model presented shows that shorter EAMs are more suitable for use in binary phase-shift keying and quadrature phase-shift keying configurations.
