Abstract

This entry presents a survey – with a UK, US, and Australia concentration – of the many and different types of corporate library and information services, and archives. They can be found in law firms, media organizations, architecture practices, multinational corporations, investment banks, pharmaceutical companies, and many other types of corporations. The nature of the information they manage, the services they offer to their users, and the functions they provide to their organizations mirrors that of the industries they serve, as does their history and evolution. Knowledge management, the changing nature of the workforce, and demonstrating value are important factors for corporate libraries.
