Abstract
Coronal renal imaging with ultrasound has a number of advantages over other routine scanning orientations in nephrosonography. In a series of 214 patients Coonal transverse, but especially longitudinal orientation was found to be superior to other scanning methods. The main advantages were: differentiation between renal cysts and hydronephrosis as well as demonstration of renal lithiasis. This approach also should be used to augment the diagnostic sequence of investigating renal masses.
