Abstract

Abstract This field test was conducted at the Plant Breeding Unit of Auburn University, Tallassee, AL. Six treatments and an untreated check were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Each of the 0.01 acre plots was 4 rows wide (36 inch row spacing) and 37 ft long. Treatments were applied Aug 27 with a CO2 back-pack sprayer equipped with D-2 nozzles operating at 27 psi and delivering 22 gal/acre. Insect populations were sampled by placing a standard 3 ft beat sheet between the rows and beating the plants on both sides of the row. Larvae were identified, counted and recorded. One sample from each plot was taken pre-spray (Aug 26) and 24 h and 72 h post-spray (Aug 28 and 31).
