Abstract

One of the most important aspects of core level electron spectroscopy is that many body effects of outer electrons are often reflected sensitively in the spectral features. By taking advantage of these features, core level spectroscopy is widely used as a powerful tool in the study of many body effects of outer electrons. Using this tool we are reporting a core level electron spectroscopic study of Ba n+1Pb nO 3n+1 homologous series. Our results show that metallic samples exhibit large asymmetry in the core levels compared to the insulating samples and a composition induced metal to insulator transition in the above series.
