Abstract

Laser cladding process has been widely used to produce high quality coating layers. In the laser cladding process, infrared (IR) laser is usually used. Although IR laser cladding has a number of advantages, it is difficult to produce coating layers of materials which has a high reflectivity at wavelength of IR such as copper, silver etc. Such materials have a higher light absorptivity at lower light wavelength. Recently, our group has developed a laser cladding system with blue direct diode lasers (DDL) in continuous wave. In this study, copper layer formation with the blue DDL cladding system will be reported.Laser cladding process has been widely used to produce high quality coating layers.
