Abstract

Abstract Copper Alloy No. 173 is a precipitation-hardenable beryllium-copper alloy with a lead addition of nominally 0.40% to give it fairly good machinability. By combining work hardening and precipitation hardening, tensile strengths in excess of 200,000 psi can be developed. This alloy is characterized by high elastic and fatigue strengths, excellent resistance to wear and high resistance to general corrosion. Its many uses include springs, fuse clips, switch parts, pump parts and welding equipment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Cu-394. Producer or source: Copper and copper alloy mills.
