Abstract

Copolymerization of ferrocenylacetylene with phenylacetylene was carried out in n-heptane solution in the presence of AlCl 3; the temperatures were −50 and − 70°C. The copolymers were separated into fractions which were and were not soluble in benzene. The effect of temperature, reaction time, monomer ratio and monomer concentrations on the yield and composition of the copolymers was investigated. Turbidimetric titration in benzene-methanol at a 0·5 g/100 ml concentration confirmed the structural uniformity of the co-oligomers. Solid reaction products not melting up to 230°C, having molecular weights from 800 to 1800, were obtained. The ESR spectra contained a signal according to which the number of unpaired electrons is 10 16–10 18 spin/g.
