Abstract

This study presents the end-to-end design solution of a novel distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) to provide reactive power services to the transmission network from distributed energy resources. These studies are part of the pre-commissioning tests before commencing the wave 1 trial of the innovation project Power Potential which is a joint effort between UK Power Networks and National Grid Electricity System Operator. The system integration and all the interfaces are described, followed by a summary of the integration test scenarios to run the system under both normal and failure conditions. The simulation results of the lab-integration testing in a pre-production environment are also presented considering various scenarios which can trigger the reactive power dispatch instruction on DERMS.
