Abstract

In continuation of earlier work, another chelating agent containing two different chelating systems in the same molecule (p-nitrobenzeneazotyrosine) was synthesized. 2:1 coordination monomers of this molecule were made and characterized with divalent copper, lead, cobalt, nickel, uranyl, and zinc ions. From these compounds, two types of coordination polymers were synthesized and studied: those involving the ions of one metal bound with both chelating groups in the ligand, and those having two different metals bound in the same polymer chain. Thermal analysis data showed that (among the group under consideration) the bimetallic polymeric chelates have no exceptional stability.
