Abstract

The article describes the administrative process involving the entry of foreigners into Brazil, more specifically the entry of refugees and the application for refugee status, focusing on the particularities that mark the bureaucratic procedures and the different State bodies involved in the process. Document analysis and process mapping were used as methodology, which made it possible to highlight the difficulties faced by the public administration of the State in relation to the granting of refuge status in the country. Lastly, suggestions were made in order to reduce bottlenecks in the administrative process managed by the Brazilian State. These suggestions become more relevant in light of the recent one with the approval of the new Brazilian Migration Law, which may help the public administration to better manage scarce resources and be more adherent to the international conventions to which Brazil is a signatory, consolidating itself towards a greater integration between the bodies to speed up the processes that today take an average of three years to be judged.
