Abstract
Wireless sensor networks has the potential of diverse applications ranging from civilian applications, monitoring and recording of environmental attributes to the tedious task of surveillance in battlefield. The sensing tasks of these networks are usually application specific, a major concern for the network performance is lifetime maximization in the constrained environment. Coverage maximization is also a challenging problem in the field of wireless sensor networks. The scheduling approaches aim to achieve these objectives. In this paper we propose a cooperative game theory based approach to enhance the performance of the network in terms of network throughput, lifetime and energy conservation. The results show that the proposed approach improves the network efficiency in terms of number of set covers and network lifetime by a factor of 86% and 86% respectively as compared to energy efficient coverage algorithm (EECP).
