Abstract

15N ( E=40 keV, Φ=2×10 17 ions·.cm −2) into unalloyed iron and two steels type 100C6 and 42CD4 at room temperature have been studied by nuclear analysis using the 15N(p,αγ) 12C reaction and by Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS). The relative amounts of nitrides have been followed during heat treatments at 250°C. The complementary of these techniques allows one to see that the evolution of the nitrogen content into the implanted zone is controlled by the transformation kinetics of the nitrides and not by elementary nitrogen diffusion process.
