Abstract
Abstract The ‘Honeymoon’ sweet corn used in this experiment was hand-planted in rows on 36 inch centers at the University of New Hampshire Kingman Farm, Madbury, NH on 5 Jul. Each plot consisted of a single 30-ft row of corn and each treatment was replicated 4 times and arranged in a randomized complete block design. When the plants reached the 10% silking stage, silk spray applications of 10 insecticide treatments were initiated using a R & D CO2-pressurized (40 psi) single nozzle hand-held sprayer that delivered 28.8 gal/ acre. The sprays were directed toward the silking zone on each side of the plant on 25 Aug, 29 Aug, 2 Sep, 6 Sep. Evaluations were made at harvest time on 21 Sep by examining 25 ears from each replicate for the presence of larvae or feeding injury.
