Abstract

Abstract Four insecticides were tested to control willow leaf beetle larvae on black and weeping willows at a private housing subdivision in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Willows 10 to 20 feet high were utilized and treatments were randomized and replicated three times. Trees were separated by sufficient distance to avoid spray drift. Treatments were made with a John Bean 55 sprayer and a Spraying Systems Gun, Jet No. 43 which delivered 3.2 gal/min at 300 psi. The trees were treated May 16'79 when the temperature was 84°F and the wind velocity ranged from 3-5 mph, Pretreatment and posttreatment larval counts were determined by examining the leaves on 24 inches of terminal branch growth at ten different locations in each tree.
