Abstract

We conducted a test experiment on three-dimensional (3-D) spiral beam injection to be performed in Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) muon g-2/EDM experiment. For successful 3-D spiral injection, the horizontal and vertical correlations (X-Y coupling) in the phase space of the beams must be properly controlled. X-Y coupling is controlled by the k-values and rotation angles of the quadrupole magnets. This paper reports the manufacture of a rotation mechanism to be attached to rotatable-quadrupole magnets in the test experiment. The rotation mechanism allows for the mechanical remote control of the rotation angle. First, the required accuracy of the rotatable-quadrupole magnet is estimated. Subsequently, the manufacturing status of the rotation mechanism is presented.
