Abstract

Abstract Plots (15 x 50 ft), replicated 3 times, were used to evaluate postharvest treat-ments with Furadan, Lorsban, and Vydate to control strawberry root weevil larvae (location 1) and F. fumalis (a root borer) (location 2). Three sq ft soil samples, 2 inches deep, were taken from each replicate prior to treatment and 7 and 14 days following treatment, and larvae extracted with Berlese funnels within 48 hours. Treatments were applied at both locations with a CO2 sprayer equipped with a hand-held boom fitted with T-jet 8003 flat fan nozzles calibrated to deliver 18gal/A at 30 psi. Plots were irrigated with overhead sprinklers for ca. 6 hours following treatment.
