Abstract

Abstract Certified B-size 'Norchip' seed was planted 11 May on the Northwest Experiment Station at Crookston, MN. This location has very fine textured soil and 1989 was extremely dry during bulking. Plots were four rows, 0.9 m wide, 7.6 m long with 1.5 m of fallow between replicates. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design, replicated 4 times. Systemic treatments were hand applied over the side of the planting ridge on 14 Jun (post-emergence) and lightly incorporated. Foliar applications were made on 6 and 19 Jul with a hand held CO2 sprayer using 2.8 kg/cm2 pressure and 30.4 liter/ha total material. Defoliation estimates were taken on 5 and 19 Jul. The tubers were not harvested for yield.
