Abstract

This paper considers an observer design and its dual control design for multivariate linear time-varying systems. The design resembles the pole placement-design in the time invariant case. Previous works on this subject restrict the controllability and observability indices to be time-invariant. The goal of this paper is to devise a pole-placement like control that allows the controllability and observability indices to be time-varying. The proposed formula for the state (observer) feedback gain reduces to the Bass-Gura formula in the pole-placement control when the system is single-input single-output and linear time invariant.
