Abstract

Abstract On September 3, 1975 we tagged and sprayed 18 native trees and shrubs (including cherry, elm and honeysuckle) which supported light infestations (1-2 webs/tree) of early to middle instar fall webworm larvae (8-25 mm long). Three plants (replicates) were sprayed with each treatment. An hydraulic Myers sprayer was used at 200 psi to thoroughly drench webs and entire host plante. Special effort was made to destroy webs wim the stream of spray. Prior to treatment, each web was closely inspected and the number of larvae and their size were estimated. Mortality was recorded 48 hours post treatment by inspecting webs and surrounding foliage.
