Abstract

This paper describes a study of the characteristics and control of cascaded doubly fed machines used for brushless variable speed constant frequency generation. A need for this type of system exists in aerospace applications. The cascaded machines, when properly excited, will supply constant frequency constant voltage generator output over a speed range with modest excitation power requirements.
