Abstract

We study chaos-control of a dual-ring Er-doped fiber laser by perturbing periodically on the laser pump and present its physical model. Dynamics behavior of the dual-ring Er-doped fiber laser can be controlled to stabilize in a cycle state or other dynamics states when a periodic signal is used to modulate the pump. When the pump is perturbed or modulated by a periodic square wave signal, chaotic behaviors of the laser dual-ring can be controlled and the two rings can deduce two single-periodic states while two rings emit cycle pulses. It indicates that chaotic dual-ring Er-doped fiber laser is pressured or controlled. When another periodic square wave signal is used to perform on the laser, dynamics behavior of dual-ring of the laser is educed to present multi-periodic states. When the pump is modulated by a sinusoidal signal, dynamics of the laser is controlled to deduce to other cycle states while each ring emits cycle pulses. And we find chaos-control region. Chaotic behavior of the laser can be controlled via the chaos-control method.
