Abstract

Abstract Treatments were applied on 8 row x 50 ft plots, arranged in a complete randomized block design with 4 replicates and 25 ft alleys. Insecticide treatments were applied using a John Deere 6000 high clearance sprayer equipped with an auxiliary compressed air system with 2x3 hollow cone spray tips per row delivering 2.5 gpa of total solution. The oil treatments were applied in 2 gal of water and 0.5 gal of Dimoil. Six treatments were applied, beginning at early pinhead square stage on May 22 and ending on Jun 25. To evaluate the performance of the respective treatments, 25 1/3-grown squares per plot that had boll weevil egg-laying punctures were collected and placed in brown paper bags. The bags were placed on trays of moist sand and held for rearing 9-10 days.
