Abstract

The permanent updating of the distribution schemes, in accordance with changes of any kind (modernization, reservation, reliability, change of power line route, configuration and type, introduction of new consumers) is a necessity for both the distribution operator and for the other factors interested in the aspects related to the production, distribution and consumption of the electrical power. On the other hand, the determination of power and energy losses on the electrical network from an established areal and the consequent adoption of measures to reduce them are problems of utmost importance in the medium voltage (MV) networks operation and maintenance. In accordance with the aforementioned, this paper aims to improve the electric power distribution efficiency in the medium voltage (MV) network of the Centru power station from Cluj-Napoca urban area, in accordance with the following aspects: (1) to model the MV network in the context of changes that have recently occurred, respectively following the introduction of several new distributors and comparing it with the previous one and (2) to determine the effects of switching the rated voltage of the MV network from 10 kV to 20 kV.
