Abstract

The life stages and life history of a green fruitworm, Lithophane laticinerea Grote, are described. This species overwinters in the adult stage and has but I generation each year. Head-capsule measurements show 6 larval instars. The species ranges from the Atlantic coast to Saskatchewan, Canada, and from New Brunswick, Canada, to North Carolina. The center of dispersal appears to be in the northern limits of the Carolinian biotic province. The species has a wide range of host plants which include fruit, forest, and shade trees.
