Abstract

We calculate the contribution of the total high- p ⊥ jet yield to the differences between total cross sections for antiparticle-proton and particle-proton scattering. With phenomenologically correct structure functions of the pion, kaon and proton, in the framework of quantum chromodynamics we find that up to approximately 10% of these differences can be attributed to jet production. This result is independent of the sea-quark and glue distributions in the parent hadrons.
