Abstract

Phase diagrams of the ternary system Ca 3(PO 4) 2-CaO-CaSO 4 were studied by coupled TGA-TDA, X-ray diffraction and chemical analysis. Taking account of CaSO 4 decomposition, two invariants are evident. The first invariant is a ternary eutectic at 1250°C liq ϵ → Ca 3 (PO 4) 2 + CaSO 4 + Ca 4P 2O 9 the second invariant is a transient peritexy at 1280°C CaO + liq π → Ca 4P 2O 9 + CaSO 4 No new phase is observed in this ternary system.
