Abstract

We publish in this issue eleven articles by Vladimir Streinu, which were not selected by the editor George Muntean in the postumuous 3 volumes collection entitled Pagini de critică literară (Pages of Literary Criticism), published in 1974, 1976 and respectively in 1976. Two of them were found in “Semnalul” (“The Signal”) newspaper, in 1946. The other nine were discovered in “Dreptatea” (“The Righteousness”), the main daily journal of the National Peasant Party led by Iuliu Maniu, in 1947. It is relevant to highlight that these less known texts have ideologic and political coordinates. Vladimir Streinu, a member of the National Peasant Party between 1932 and 1938, displayed real courage returning in the doctrinary battles, although his party had been sabotaged during the elections from 19th of November 1946 and thus did not benefit of any spot in the Deputy Assembly. This situation, which eventually led to the suppression of the National Peasant Party and to the abusive arresting of a series of important figures in July 1947, hints that Vladimir Streinu resisted that time to certain typs of compromises.
