Abstract

Dispersion patterns and density of dung piles and wallowing places of guanaco (Lama guanicoe Muller) in a sedentary population of the Southwest of Chubut Province, Argentine, were analized. The methods of Byrth & Ripley (1980) and Diggle (1975-1977) for estimating dispersión patterns and density of both types of structures wexe respectively used. Durig piles , and wallowing places both present a random disposition. However an aggregation trend by the former exists (HOPF = 2,02, HOPN = 1,35 and HOPF = 0,93, HOPN = 0,55 respectively). The density index proposed by Diggle (op. cit.) showed 3,73 - 5,30 dung piles/Ha. and' 1,95 - 2,10 wallowing places/Ha. Sociobiological considerations are also included.
