Abstract

The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $1.1 million contract to Colorado State University (CSU) to analyze cloud systems by satellite in support of weather modification research, Secretary of Interior Cecil Andrus announced recently. ‘The use of satellite imagery holds great promise in helping us understand the processes that produce water from the atmosphere,’ Secretary Andrus said.The 5‐year study will support two Bureau of Reclamation research projects: the High Plains Cooperative Program (Hiplex) in growing season rainfall management and the Sierra Cooperative Pilot Project in winter snowfall enhancement.
